Oh, flames grow with immortal courage And your world will never fall away Nothing to fear Beneath the scars You’ll never be tainted by fate

Or, Koronis shows the Convocation why the seat of Azem is symbolized as the sun.

From the start, Azem was known to be an oddity even amongst oddities among the Ancients. For a people that chose to pursue knowledge to bring peace and prosperity to society, he chose to pursue martial arts and ceaseless wandering instead. Where the Convocation would choose to step back and watch with detached interest, Azem would throw himself into the problem, heedless of their statements regarding the matter and breaking several unspoken rules in the process.

To some, he was a headache. To others, a whimsical rarity. To his best friends, he is an endearing combination of both.

“One of these days, I’ll end up seeing you in chains for the things you pull,” Emet sighed from behind the report he was reading. “That, or exiled from Amaurot after effectively stripping you of your title of Azem.” From the corner of the office they were sitting in, Hythlodaeus barked out a laugh.

“And yet I’m sure he’ll find a way to escape all of that unharmed,” he remarked. Azem, standing in front of Emet’s desk as if he were a child getting reprimanded in front of a principal and his parent, hid a smile as Emet continued to read the report.

“‘Flagrant ignorance of several rules set in place,’ check. ‘Endangering several civilians while attempting to stop an altercation,’ check. ‘Employing creation magicks without following prescribed ruleset and protocol,’ check.“ Emet let out another pained sigh at the last point and looked up accusingly at Azem with his brow even more intensely furrowed than before.

“Never mind what I said earlier – you absolutely can be stripped of your title with your antics, Koronis,” he said with a certain degree of poison while uttering Azem’s true name. “Are you stupid, or are you actually trying to get yourself fired?”

“It was my best option available to me at the time,” Azem argued, nonplussed by the surprising amount of emotion in Emet’s voice. “And I can argue about the endangerment of civilians when I specifically told them to clear out of the area before doing anything. Several witnesses can attest to that!”
